A first look at Firefox Mobile for Windows Mobile
By Julian Prokaza on Thursday, 31 January 2008

Firefox MobileWindows Mobile users cursing the inability of Pocket Internet Explorer to render web pages properly have long had the option to switch to Opera Mobile, but there’ll soon be another option – Firefox.

The Mozilla Foundation was slow to realise the potential market for a mobile version of Firefox and only announced plans to start working on a handheld browser at the end of 2007. Still, work is progressing and the Firefox Wiki site now has some interface mock-ups on show.

By George Cole on Monday, 26 November 2007

With an estimated 350 mobile viruses and threats out there, it’s no surprise that anti-virus companies are now targeting this market. The latest include Symantec (the company behind the Norton brand) and McAfee, which have both announced new mobile anti-virus products. Symantec’s Norton Smartphone Security, is claimed to be the first consumer mobile security offering to cater for both the Windows Mobile and Symbian operating systems.

Can I convert my German iPaq to English?
By Mark Wilson on Sunday, 19 August 2007

I recently bought an iPaq 3660 from eBay and was very pleased with the price I ended up paying. Unfortunately, I found that I had not read the auction correctly and discovered that a German version of Pocket PC 2000 was installed. Being British, this is not much use to me and I wanted to know how to change the language.

Can I use my iPaq as a Wi-Fi access point?
By Mark Wilson on Wednesday, 05 September 2007

I know it's possible to use a mobile phone as a modem with a laptop, but I would like to do something slightly different. I have a laptop which does not have wireless capabilities, and an iPaq which does. Is it possible to connect the two and allow the laptop to use the iPaq's wireless connection?

Celio Redfly Mobile Companion reviewed
By Julian Prokaza on Friday, 28 March 2008

Celio Redfly Mobile CompanionThere’s an early but detailed review of the Celio Redfly Mobile Companion devices over at Brighthand. Essentially a Windows Mobile equivalent of the doomed Palm Foleo, the Redfly seems to have a lot going for it – it’s about the size of an Asus Eee PC, but has a slightly larger 8in screen and an eight hour battery life. The catch is that it’s really nothing more than a big screen and keyboard for a connected Windows Mobile smartphone – and it’s useless without one.

Brighthand is pretty positive about the device and really only has two complaints. The first is actually not the Redfly’s fault, but rather that of Pocket Internet Explorer – it’s rubbish. The second is the price and at $500 plus the cost of a smartphone, the Redfly is far from cheap.

CoPilot Live 7 for Windows Mobile
By Julian Prokaza on Tuesday, 11 December 2007

CoPilot Live 7Having sat-nav software installed on your smartphone makes a lot of sense, particularly if it's one with built-in GPS. The small screens of most models won't give as good a view as a dedicated device, but since you always have your smartphone with you, you'll never be without an electronic route finder. In our opinion, TomTom rules the roost when it comes to smartphone sat-nav software, but with the release of version 7, CoPilot is now a serious alternative.

DivX launches mobile phone player
By Julian Prokaza on Monday, 03 September 2007

ImageDivX has announced a mobile phone player for video compressed with the DivX codec. A beta of the DivX Mobile Player is now available for download from the DivX site, along with a selection of free video downloads (free registration required) to test it with. The catch is that only two mobile phones are Mobile DivX-certified at the moment – the Samsung SGH-F500 and SGH F508 -- but the player is also available for Windows Mobile and Symbian OS smartphones.

By Jon Bray on Tuesday, 11 December 2007

E-Ten Glofish X800Smartphones have been around for a number of years now, but it’s only recently that consumers have begun to warm to the concept of having a mobile office in their pocket. It’s a phenomenon that E-TEN aims to capitalise on with its latest smartphone — the Glofiish X800. And with its bright, brassy colour scheme and slim profile, this phone is bound to attract its fair share of jealous glances.
