10in Asus Eee PC on the way
By Nick Mansell on Wednesday, 23 April 2008

Asus Eee 900DigiTimes over in Taiwan is reporting that Asus president Jerry Shen has announced plans to release a 10in Asus Eee. Following on from the just-released Eee PC 900 (pictured) it's promised later this year.

While the 900's 8.9in screen fitted neatly into the same shell as the original 700, a 10in display would require a whole new form factor. That's already prompted Eee fans to start hoping for an improved, larger keyboard and perhaps a few other goodies squeezed inside.

Meanwhile there's more in the article about Eee shortages. It states that problems getting enough batteries has meant that Asus has only been able to meet 40% of demand in Europe - but says "a complete recovery" is expected by July.

Apple and Asus face patent battles
By George Cole on Friday, 07 December 2007

ImageApple and Asus are the latest computer companies to become embroiled in patent rows. Apple is being sued for $360 million (£180 million) by Klausner Technologies, which alleges that the iPhone's Visual Voicemail system infringes two of the company's patents filed in the early 1990s. The patents cover a "Telephone Answering Device" which can be used to organise voicemails. Klausner also has its sights on AT&T and Skype, and has successfully defended its patents against AOL and Vontage, which both license the technology.

Meanwhile, IBM has asked the US government to block imports of some Asus's products, alleging that the Taiwanese company has infringed three of its patents concerning PC components including, power supply units and cooling systems. Asus, which works closely with companies such as Apple and Dell, has begun marketing its own brand of PCs, including the well-received Eee PC. Asus denies the allegations.

Asus Eee PC 2 caught on camera
By Julian Prokaza on Tuesday, 08 January 2008

us Eee PC 2Chinese tech website Pixnet has managed to score some photos of what looks like one of the new larger-screened Eee PCs, or the Eee PC 2, as it's more conveniently known.

The laptop has what looks like a wider 8in screen inside a redesigned lid that does away with the ugly black surround -- and looks all the better for it.

Since the site is in Chinese, it's difficult to figure out much about what's shown in the photos, so if anyone feels like a spot of translation, please drop us a line.

Asus was expected to announce the next generation of Eee PC at CES yesterday, but instead it simply confirmed that new models with larger screens and WiMax will appear later this year.

Asus Eee PC 4G review
By Julian Prokaza on Friday, 02 November 2007

Asus Eee PC 4GUltra-portable PCs are hardly big news these days and if you're happy to make a few sacrifices for the sake of portability, they're a great way to lighten your load if you need a laptop with you at all times. Unfortunately, they're also a great way to lighten your wallet and the smallest, lightest models cost £1,200 and up.

So, you can imagine the hullabaloo that greeted the unveiling of the Asus Eee PC at the Computex trade show earlier this year. Not only is this one of the smallest and lightest ultra-portables ever made, but it's also one of the cheapest. Actually, that doesn't really do it justice - at a mere £219, the Eee PC is practically a freebie in laptop terms.

Asus Eee PC 900
By Julian Prokaza on Thursday, 17 April 2008

Asus Eee PC 900The Eee PC 701 may not have been perfect, but it the first mass market, ultra-cheap ultra-portable ticked all the right boxes for a lot of people. And we mean a lot – the Eee PC proved so successful that Asus had problems meeting demand, so it was a foregone conclusion that it would produce an updated model to capitalise on its success. So, five months after the Eee PC 701’s launch, Asus has come up with version two – the Eee PC 900.

Asus Eee PC 901 picture special
By Leon Bailey on Thursday, 15 May 2008

ImageOur French isn’t so bon but it doesn’t matter terribly because Blogeee.net ’s latest report on the Intel Atom -powered Asus Eee PC 901 is really little more than a love story told in pictures. Lots and lots of pictures. We’ve included one of Blogeee’s rather nice snapshots here but for the full-on photofest, follow the links below. But be warned that product details for the Eee PC 901 still remain scant. Well, unless you consider the revelation that the VGA port appears to have shifted sides to be of great import.

Asus Eee PC 701 with Windows XPAsus is taking the strain out of loading Windows XP onto its tiny 7in laptop, with a ready loaded version due to hit the shops in the States in nine days time. And the good news for Windows fans is it won't cost any more than the current Linux model.
