Canon PowerShot A470Canon has dropped four new compact digital cameras today, including a new 7 megapixel compact that costs just £109.

The A470 is one of three new models in Canon’s new PowerShot line-up, and has a 7.1 megapixel sensor with 3.4x optical zoom and face-detection technology. It has a range of shooting modes, including Manual, and an ISO range of 80 to 1600. It’s remarkably well-specified for a budget compact, but Canon’s generosity doesn’t end there…

Canon announces new SD and HD digital camcorders for 2008

Canon MD235Canon announced its 2008 camcorder line up this morning - there are nine new models that offer a mix of SD and HD recording, with a mix of tape, DVD and solid-state storage.

The entry-level MD205 and MD235 MiniDV SD camcorders use Canon's new Advanced Zoom that combines a genuine Canon video lens with the DIGIC DV processor to a give a digital zoom range of up to 45x. Prices start from around £190 for the MD205 and £220 for the MD235.

  • 1/6" Interlaced CCD with DIGIC DV image processor
  • Optical zoom 32x (MD205), 37x (MD235)
  • Sub one second power-up
  • LCD Video Light for filming close-up in poorly lit environments
  • MD205 total pixels 800,000 (540,000 effective)
  • MD235 total pixels 1.07 (710,000 effective)
  • MD205 size: 68 x 82 x 127mm; weight: 380g
  • MD235 size: 66 x 90 x 126mm; weight 430g

Canon launches three new 10-megapixel compact digital cameras

Canon IXUS 85 ISThere are more new cameras from Canon today – its just announced the Digital IXUS 85 IS, IXUS 90 IS and IXUS 970 IS. The IXUS 85 IS and IXUS 90 are both 10-megapixel compact cameras with optical image stabilisation, face detection and a whole host of other clever features that constitute a digital camera in this modern age.

The IXUS 90 IS also has “exquisitely engineered angles”, though Canon doesn’t state what they are. We’re guessing the ever-popular ‘90 degrees’ features extensively, though.
