We don’t see too many inventive tech-related ad campaigns these days, so it’s all the more refreshing when something particularly clever turns up. Smartphones seem to inspiring ad agencies at the moment – Samsung tickled out funny bone with its Omnia unboxing video a few months ago, and now there’s the Pomegranate NS08.

The pitch is for a fictional smartphone that does everything, but after you sit through several amusing video clips that extol its voice translation, image projecting, coffee brewing, shaving and harmonica-playing abilities, the truth is revealed. So, while you may not be able to get everything you want in one device, you can get everything you want in one place – Nova Scotia (you mean the folded-out NS08 image didn’t give it away?). Yes, it’s a “Come to Nova Scotia” campaign, but at least it’s a funny one.

We posted a short piece about Asus’ new N-Series laptops yesterday, along with a short video showing the N20 Centrino 2 model. To recap, this is a low-cost range of four models (at the moment) produced by Asus’ laptop division – a totally separate division to the team that produces the Eee PC.

Today we have the base model in the N-Series – the N10. This uses an Intel Atom N270 processor rather than a Core 2 Duo, which means it’s really a netbook rather than a laptop. However, the design is very much along the lines of Asus’ other (and much more expensive) ultra-portables and like the N20, it’s rather stylish.

More impressive is its specification, particularly the graphics chip. In addition to the same so-so Intel 945 graphics found on other netbooks, the N10 also has a discrete nVidia GeForce 9300M graphics chipset – enabled with the flick of a switch (and a reboot). The result? The N10 is the first netbook we’ve seen that’s capable of playing 3D games at reasonable resolutions and frame rates. More info and a video of the N10 in action after the cut.

If you were already bewildered by Asus’ ever-expanding Eee PC range of low cost laptops, here’s some bad news – there’s more to come. Its new N-Series, however, is from its laptop division (Eee PCs are produced by a separate Eee PC division, natch), which makes them rather interesting.

Rather more interesting is that in addition to three stylish Core 2 Duo models with a range of specifications, there's also an entry-level N10 model that uses an Intel Atom processor, which makes it another new netbook. More details – and our hands-on video – after the cut.

We missed this when it first appeared online a couple of weeks ago, but we thought it’s worth a mention just in case you missed it first time round.

It is, obviously, an unboxing video of the new Samsung Omnia i900 smartphone, but less obvious is the fact it’s really a very clever marketing exercise. Well, less obvious until about 35 seconds in, that is… Watch the video after the cut.

Well, it had to happen sooner or later – the scientists at ‘Will It Blend?’ have put the new Apple iPhone 3G through its paces. Or rather, through their blender. It looks to us like there’s a little missing footage between the final blending shot and the pouring of the fine iPhone 3G powder, but we suspect this will be addressed before the report is submitted to Nature for peer review. The Google Mobile team has posted three new videos on its new Mobile Tricks YouTube channel. Two of which really aren’t worth wasting time on (sorry guys), but the other is definitely worth a look.

It’s an amusing skit by comedy group The Vacationeers (nope, us neither) that explains how to (and how not to) deal with the awkwardness that inevitably arises when someone someone you don’t want to have your phone number asks you for it. Watch the video after the cut.

Well, the build-up to the July 11 iPhone 3G launch looks like it’s begun – Apple has posted a guided tour video of its new smartphone for punters eager for the slightest scrap of information. If you don’t mind listening to the inevitable Apple hyperbole (and can stand the unending gesticulations of the host), the thirty minute video is a comprehensive guide to just about everything the iPhone 3G is capable of, though existing owners won’t see much that’s new.

With your appetite has been whetted by the Wind unboxing video, here comes the starter – a hands-on video of MSI’s new netbook. You can also see some side-by-side comparisons with the only other two Intel Atom-powered netbooks available at the moment – the Acer Aspire One and Asus Eee PC 901.

The MSI Wind is the netbook a lot of people have been holding on for, since it seems to combine all of the best features of other small, cheap ultraportables – a big screen, large keyboard, to name the two most notable.
