You've Been Unboxed!
By Julian Prokaza on Tuesday, 16 September 2008

We’re really not convinced about the value of unboxing videos, but lots of people seem to like them, so we’re happy to keep making them. And we must admit to liking a few such videos ourselves, particularly this one that shows an Apple Remote being lovingly extracted from its minimalist packaging by a new owner...

Palm Treo Pro unboxing video
By Julian Prokaza on Thursday, 04 September 2008

Palm Treo Pro unboxingPalm formally launched its new Treo Pro smartphone (£399 contract-free) on Tuesday and we received our review unit last night. We’ll post a first impressions video later today and a full review in a day or two, so in the meantime, here’s a video that shows this Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional smartphone – gasp! – being removed from its box.

Samsung Omnia i900 unboxing video - kinda
By Julian Prokaza on Monday, 01 September 2008

Samsung Omnio i900 We missed this when it first appeared online a couple of weeks ago, but we thought it’s worth a mention just in case you missed it first time round.

It is, obviously, an unboxing video of the new Samsung Omnia i900 smartphone, but less obvious is the fact it’s really a very clever marketing exercise. Well, less obvious until about 35 seconds in, that is… Watch the video after the cut.

Apple Newton unboxing video!
By Leon Bailey on Tuesday, 26 August 2008

There’s not a lot of interesting mobile news around this afternoon so instead, how’s about an unboxing video of an Apple Newton?

Wait, isn’t the Newton, like, 15 years old? Well, yes, but Brandon Miniman over at PocketNow has just bought himself a MessagePad, presumably via eBay, and decided it would be fun to video the unboxing of the package he received. And why not? As he says in the clip, handling the Newton really shows how far handheld gadgets have come in just a few years

Moreover, this video is just the first in a promised series. Worth a bookmark, we reckon.

HTC Touch Pro unboxed
By Nick Mansell on Friday, 15 August 2008

HTC Touch Pro unboxingIf you've got around £500 handy you can do this yourself but if not serial bloggers, Tracy and Matt, have done the customary unboxing video of HTC's new Touch Pro for you.

You'll recognise the lopped-off pyramid box design if you've cracked open a fresh Touch Diamond before. After that you can ooh at the sturdy plastic interior and ahh at the bundled pouch that self-cleans the screen each time you insert you smudge-marked Pro. Marvellous.

Matt's thoughts on the actual phone are that: "The screen seems to be more sensitive than the Touch Diamond and it looks like HTC have spent the extra time with the Pro refining a few things."

Worryingly, though, he also reports that it appears, "almost twice as thick" as the Diamond and there's no cable in the box for the much vaunted TV-out feature - boo!

iPhone 3G unboxing video
By Leon Bailey on Tuesday, 08 July 2008

Well, not quite – but we intend to post just such a video come the morning of Friday 11 July (assuming our iPhone 3G arrives by courier, as promised). In the meantime, here’s a photo of what appears to be an iPhone 3G consumer box, unpacked and laid out (almost) neatly on a tabletop. It’s from the iPhonePortugal forum. Someone there has apparently just received this delivery.

And that’s it, really. We have no idea why these unboxing photos and videos are so enormously popular but every time we post one, we get oodles of hits. Clearly, you like them and we aim to please - so what of our unboxing video? We’ll explain all after the jump.

Yawn, it's an HTC Diamond unboxing video
By Julian Prokaza on Friday, 27 June 2008

HTC Diamond unboxingThe rest of the world may have already reviewed the shiny new Diamond Windows Mobile smartphone, but HTC UK only got around to issuing review models to UK journalists last night.

So, since we have a new video camera to hand, we thought we’d shoot a little clip of – yes – the HTC Diamond box being opened for the very first time! Thrill at the novel pyramidal frustum prismatoid packaging! Gasp as the clear plastic protective strip is peeled away from the smartphone screen! Gaze in awe as the two parts of the cunningly designed mains adapter are clipped together! All that stuff, and more, after the cut.

The Apple iPhone unboxed. By LEGO people.
By Julian Prokaza on Wednesday, 23 April 2008

LEGO iPhone unboxing
Articles that show the ‘unboxing’ of a product can be pretty tedious and we don’t usually feature them here at Mobile Computer. We’ll make an exception for this clever Apple iPhone unboxing photo gallery by Flickr user ntr23, though – check out the Flickr set for the full set of photos.
