Dell Inspiron Mini 9
By Julian Prokaza on Wednesday, 15 October 2008

Dell Inspiron Mini 9Whatever you think about Dell, one thing’s for sure – it’s the first laptop manufacturer to realise that an ‘internet anywhere’ netbook isn’t much use without internet access. Wi-Fi is all well and good, but step out of network range with your little, low-cost laptop and it’s close to becoming dead weight.

So, while other manufacturers umm and ah about onboard mobile broadband support, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is the first netbook to actually have it, albeit as an option available only from Vodafone.

Hands-on with the Dell Inspiron Mini 9
By Julian Prokaza on Thursday, 09 October 2008

Dell Inspiron Mini 9We’ve waited a while to get the new Dell Inspiron Mini 9 in for review, but now we have one in our hands. Alas, not from Dell (mutter mutter), but from the kind folks at Vodafone, who are offering this netbook as a freebie with a couple of its mobile broadband tariffs.

Even so, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is just £269 inc VAT (and shipping) for the Linux model and £299 for Windows XP – well within the reach of anyone looking for a low-cost laptop. And we rather like it. So, until we publish the full review, here’s a video that gives our first impressions – after the cut.

Dell's Inspiron Mini 9 laid bare
By Nick Mansell on Friday, 05 September 2008

The Mini 9's SSDWhat's this? Someone's done a strip down of the Mini 9 - aka Dell E - already? Actually, turns out it's Dell itself, with its handy Service Manual revealing the tiny Inspiron's innermost workings - and plenty of opportunities for modders to exploit.

Fancy swapping out the SSD for something larger or faster? Dell shows you how. Or how about replacing that screen - Dell's diagrams show plenty of room for a nice touchscreen number.

Grab your screwdriver and head on over to Dell's support page for more.

Dell E - Inspiron 910 - launching tomorrow?
By Nick Mansell on Wednesday, 03 September 2008

Dell Inspiron 910We've had more than a few false starts on Dell's Eee PC 901 rival, the laptop formerly known as the Dell E. Now variously called the Inspiron 910, Inspiron Mini or Inspiron Mini 9, it was rumoured to be set for launch on 22nd August. That date came and went without a murmur. Now, though, Dell itself has confirmed to Information Week that it will be arriving this week - giving impatient Dell fans a three day window to choose from.

Dell E ready to land in August
By Nick Mansell on Tuesday, 15 July 2008

Dell EWhile the Eee PC 901 is stalling with supply issues, Dell is said to be all set to launch its own Eee rival, the Dell E.

As well as sharing the fifth letter of the alphabet, the E looks to have a very similar spec list to the Asus - but a much lower price. Digitimes reports that $299 will get you a trio of USB ports, an obligatory Intel Atom processor, an 8.9in 1024x600 display and a webcam.
