Two fingered stab-style typists may not even know where the Z-key usualy lies on a QWERTY keyboard but, for those who touch type, a familiar layout is pretty much essential. Which is why Jake Gordon felt more than a little miffed when his new Dell Vostro 1310 arrived with the Z key, and every other letter on the bottom row, shifted to the right.

As ever, take this with a lethal dose of salt, but a French website claims to have been anonymously sent two photos of the 3G iPhone.

Debate has been raging online about whether they are fake or not but, if true, the emergence of the snaps could suggest an European launch coming sooner than in the 3G-backward States. Earlier rumours have even placed the launch in Australia so suggestions of a non-US launch might not be inconceivable for Apple.

The device itself is an all black affair with a squarer finish to the original. Some have pointed out the lack of an obvious front-facing camera but then whispers have already pointed to the video-calling cam being hidden from sight behind the front glass.

Don't expect these to be the last 'spy shots' we see - Apple does like to keep people guessing.

Vodafone's lagged well behind the likes of T-Mobile and its Web'n'Walk service when it's come to mobile browsing and email data - charging either a £1 a day for up to 15MB or £7.50 a month for a stingy 120MB. Now it's revamped its offering, coming up with a free 'unlimited' service on all its new tariffs.

For 'unlimited' you'll need to see the 500MB 'fair usage' policy but it's still a huge step for Vodafone users who've had to put up with high bills for modest mobile internet use.

Plans start at £25 a month. A £40 plan will also throw-in a choice of unlimited texts, unlimited landline calls or unlimited calls to other Vodafone numbers. As an added bonus it's also offering to set up users email in-store start making advantage of the bundled data straight away.

It seems the rumours of a clamshell BlackBerry have been confirmed. Pictures of the flip phone - codenamed Kickstart - have appeared on the Boy Genius Report, which states: "This isn’t fake, this isn’t a hoax. We’ve known RIM is planning to launch a flip phone within the year, and we now have the pictures to prove it!"

Looking a bit like a hinged version of the Pearl, it has the same SureType keypad and central TrackBall. Like most premium clams, it gets an external as well as internal screen with an all-new portrait format. 

Moto's latest Symbian UIQ handset has landed in O2 stores. Designed to make "shooting, editing and sharing videos directly from your mobile easier than ever before", the Z10 boasts a video camera able to capture VGA quality footage at an impressive 30 frames per second. The "ergonomic" (read "bendy") kick-slider design gets some premium touches including spun stainless steel elements, a polished metallic finish and "soft-feel" textures.

Spb has updated its Mobile Shell UI replacement for Windows Mobile from v2.0 to 2.1. The update includes a new data connection indicator on the Now screen, support for 320 x 320 screens and a few bug fixes. We’re big fans of Spb Mobile Shell – as you can see from our review, so it’s worth checking out the demo if you’re a frustrated Windows Mobile user.

We're still waiting on a UK release date but we've now got a look at the final specs of Lenovo's baby IdeaPad U110, which has finally appeared on its US site.

Showing over there as shipping in "2-3 weeks", the 11.1in laptop boasts a "unique, etched aluminium-alloy top cover" in fetching red or black. As indicated earlier in the week, it'll sell for $1,899 (around £960).

If suitcase-size solar panels seem a tad too cumbersome then consider Devotec's new solar charger, dubbed it's smallest yet. Even smaller than an iPod nano (1st generation that is) its built-in battery packs enough power to charge a mobile, Blackberry or MP3 player twice over.
