This HTC HD2 scratch test is almost too excruciating to watch

By Julian Prokaza on Tue 10 November 2009

As we reported last month, the HTC HD2 Windows Mobile smartphone has a huge, high resolution, capacitive display — 4.3” and 480 x 800 pixels. That’s the kind of display you keep cosseted behind a soft slip case and spend your spare time polishing with a lint-free cloth — right? Er, wrong, apparently.

Unconvinced by HTC’s claims about the £550 HD2’s glass screen being scratch-resistant, the malcontents at the Russian Mobile Tech world site decided to test it for themselves — and they capture the whole thing on video.

Here’s a warning before you watch — the man with the keys, knife and scissors knows no mercy and watching him work on the HTC HD2’s screen triggers the same kind of wince that all men experience when watching something like this.

Oh and if you don’t like the sound of fingernails on a blackboard, you’d best turn the sound down too…

Surprisingly, however the HTC HD2 comes out completely unscathed — let us know how you get on when you try the same experiment with your iPhone…
