Compaq Mini 700 opened up online

By Nick Mansell on Mon 29 December 2008

Inside a Compaq Mini 700Netbooks of a nervous disposition should look away now. The Italians, though not as fond of their inquisitions as the Spanish, have taken it upon themselves to prise the lid off a Compaq Mini 700 (sibling to HP's Mini 1000 and distant relation to the Mini Cooper) and have a poke around inside.

Turns out there are lots of tightly packed chips, some sort of processor and an SSD in there. Remarkable!

Still, the Netbook Italia piece also makes a useful guide to those who may want to open up theirs and have a tinker inside themselves. Provided they speak Italian - or can stand the cringing English of Google Translator.

Rather usefully, the guide works just as well for the HP Netbook Mini 1000, which goes to show they really are the same beast.
