Yesterday we reported that T-Mobile would be honouring its new T-Mobile G1 price plan structure for existing G1 customers. Since then, it's transpired that all is not quite what is seemed.

Originally, Pocket Lint reported that T-Mobile had told its reporter that people who signed up for a free G1 on the minimum £40 tariff, would now be able to change their contract to the new minimum £30 option. "Not so", said several customers who tried to duly drop down to the £30 a month option and hit a brick wall. Read on for the conclusion to the mystery.

A quick call to T-Mobile later and we now have the actual policy. Customers won't be allowed to downgrade their contract - but they will be given "a credit" if they're unhappy with the £40 tariff.

When pushed as to exactly what that credit would entail, T-Mobile weren't prepared to tell us but did say: "If a customer calls up and expresses that they are unhappy with the level of their monthly payment and would have preferred the £30 tariff when they signed up for a free G1, we will look at their contract and offer them a credit on their account."

The spokesperson added: "They will definitely get some credit but it's difficult to say how much they will be offered or what would get. We did reduce the minimum tariff some time ago we haven't had very many calls from people wanting to change."

And that's about all we could get out of them. So - if you signed up for a free G1 on a £40 tariff and aren't happy, let us know how you get on.
