Medion's supermarket-chic Aldi laptop Print
By Nick Mansell on Monday, 27 October 2008

Medion AkoyaAldi likes to pile 'em high and sell 'em cheap so £580 for a Medion Akoya P6612 may seem a tad pricey for a supermarket that makes Morrisons look like Harrod's Food Hall. Tell us that it includes a 2.0GHz  Core2 Duo P7350, 4GB RAM, 320GB hard drive, 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M graphics, HDMI and Freeview tuner, however, and you have our interest.

Add in the fact that the 16in beauty comes with an unheard of three year warranty and has a surprisingly premium black gloss exterior - and we'll see you in the queue.

It goes on sale as a special from Thursday 30th October. If it's anything like our Aldi wetsuit/power drill/Blu-ray buying experience, expect them to be sold out by 9.01am.

I have just been to Aldi to buy a MEDION AKOYA P6612 notebook computer and was there at the crack of dawn (almost). No way!Sold out! This is the fourth time I have tried to spend my money with these people, never again. I must have wasted over 50:00 on fuel over the time. I will sertainly give them a miss in future unless they instal phones at there branches. At least then I could make a quick call to see if I am again wasting my time.

Gleefully Happy!
written by Vince Shalom , November 03, 2008

Got there 07:00hrs. Silly sod I am, they didn't open till 09:00hrs. Aw shucks, go to 24 hour asda then instead, do a nifty shop, come back, first in que, opened at 09:00 with JUST FOUR MACHINES AVAILABLE. Me, just 'wet me pants' and gleefully happy, 'cos it's for my eldest daughter who has worked her butt off in her recent exams, and passed them all.....despite the awful life circumstances.

Sorry you missed one this time, but think of it this way, the next one will be even better, well it ususally is that way with Aldi releases. Have had an excellent Medion before but that got taken away......(read between the lines and the website, of course!)

Anyway, we are going to turn the new one on, on Saturday, after we have poured all over the paperwork and checked everything else is in order.

Beware, first impressions obviously, very shallow screen protection stoppers on lid, don't put anything at all, on top of this notebook.
