BlackBerry Storm breaks cover - Thunder rolling in soon
By Nick Mansell on Tue 16 September 2008
The Storm (aka the Thunder in the UK and 9530 universally) is coming and here's the video to prove it. Sent out to Verizon employees in the US yesterday, it gives a full rundown of the new touchscreen BlackBerry that RIM hopes will give the iPhone 3G a run for its money.
While trumpeting the usual BlackBerry benefits it also boasts about the "rich multimedia experience" the Storm offers, as well as its web browsing capabilities. It also reassures that the touchscreen keyboard offers "smooth and precise text input" - an important factor if RIM is going to wean corporate America from its traditional thumb keyboard. Watch the video after the cut. The video has now been pulled by YouTube.
Crackberry.com has also got its hands on the 'Talking Points' and 'Q&A' sheets sent to Verizon sales staff. The PDFs detail the hi-res screen and certain other benefits over the iPhone 3G, such as audible turn-by-turn directions for navigation, Picture messaging, a higher res 3.2mp camera and a removable battery. Ouch.
Alas, pricing details and launch dates are excluded. The Thunder will be available on Vodafone when it launches here.
