We've seen blurry video. We've seen a line-drawn design schematic. Now we've finally got decent, in the wild shots of the first Android handset - the Dream G1 - due for launch on T-Mobile in the US.

The snaps show that it corresponds pretty closely to what we've already seen - although seeing it in the flesh has provoked something of a mixed reaction from those eagerly awaiting its arrival.

While the touchscreen, trackball and full QWERTY keypad tick all the right boxes, the main initial reaction can be summed up with one word: 'ugly'.
