iPhone 3G Pay & Go pricing - now you see it... now you don't

By Nick Mansell on Thu 26 June 2008

iPhone 3GJust as we thought O2 had finally released its Pay & Go pricing for the iPhone 3G - it went and unreleased it. A page appeared on the O2 website appearing to give full details of the 8GB and 16GB pre-pay deals, but then mysteriously disappeared.

Thankfully it was up long enough for plenty of people to make note of the details. An 8GB model will cost slightly less than predicted at £299.99, while a 16GB version will be £60 more. Intriguingly there'll also be free Wi-Fi and 3G data thrown in for the first six months, reverting to £10 a month after that. Click through for the full text of the offer.

iPhone 3G is coming soon for Pay and Go

Pay and Go customers can now enjoy all the great features of the iPhone without a monthly contract.

The new 3G 8GB iPhone for Pay & Go will be available for £299.99 and 16GB for £359.99. This also includes unlimited browsing and Wi-Fi for the first 6 months after you activate your iPhone*.

At the end of the six months you can continue to receive unlimited browsing and Wi-Fi for just £10 per month. We'll notify you at the end of the six month period by text and you can easily unsubscribe if you choose to do so.

You'll also be able to choose one of our standard Pay and Go tariffs to use with your iPhone. The more you top-up each month, the more free minutes or texts you'll receive.

* This offer is applicable to all new and upgrading customers who purchase an iPhone on Pay and Go until Dec 31st 2008. Unlimited data and Wi-Fi applies to use in the UK only, subject to excessive usage policy. Unlimited Wi-Fi is available at any of the 9,500 Wi-Fi hotspots from our partners The Cloud or BT Openzone.

£299 - still too expensive for a phone cum PDA. And not entirely contract free if we need to pay for continued wifi  access, is it ?

I spoke to a person at the o2 shop today and asked them about the price and the date of the launch for the Iphone 3g pay & go. The person said it is going to cost about £299 for the 8GB and was not to shore about the 16 GB she then said that it is going to be released in about a month which i believe is a reasonable amount of time. to get people on contract. she said the website states later this year because they make people feel that its a long weight and sign up to contract however we may be in for a surprise launch next month
