With Rock's unfortunate dip into administration, it was touch and go whether we'd ever get to see the small but tough Pegasus 210 it announced earlier in the year. Thankfully, the firm's saviour by Stone means the miniature hardman is now on sale.

Rock's press release states it's: "specifically designed to combat the trials and tribulations associated with being away from the safety of an office desk". As troubling as the lack of free coffee and doughnuts can be when we leave the office, we'd hardly call it a safety issue.

Still, the 210 promises to shield both hardware and data from all kinds of hazards. As well as the magnesium alloy outer it gets an anti-shock hard drive and a shock absorbing screen. Even on-the-road Red Bull spillages are catered for with a 'liquid resistant C-face' protecting the touch pad, keyboard and switch gear.

HSDPA is an optional add on to the standard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. A fingerprint reader deals with sticky fingers while the hard drive can be automatically locked if any unauthorised users attempt to get in.

There's no optical drive but plenty of ports, plus a 4-in-1 card reader and PCMCIA slot. An 800MHz Intel A110 processor, 80GB hard drive and 1GB RAM are standard, plus a generous three year warranty. It's out now on the newly reinstated rockdirect.com.
