Early Eee 900s to miss out on Atom?

By Nick Mansell on Tue 08 April 2008

Eee 900Seems the first 8.9in 900 series Eee PCs may not be packing Intel's new Atom processors. DigiTimes, which has tended to be spot-on when it comes to Asus, is reporting that the Eee maker is planning to bring forward its second generation Eee release schedule to beat HP's new Mini-Note to the shelves.

It says it will launch in Taiwan later this month - well before May when the Atom begins shipping to manufacturers. That would mean Asus would have to use the nearest equivalent, Intel's dual-core ULV processor, for its earlier models.

There's been no confirmation from Asus and no indication either of whether these early Eee 900s might come here, or merely see release in the Far East. More as we get it.
