Asus Eee PC with 10in screen planned for 2008

As much as we love the ASUS
Eee PC, we're the first to admit that it would be better with a bigger screen. -- the 7in
display is perfectly usable, but there's room for a bigger and higher resolution one in the lid. Well, good news everyone -- it appears that a 10in Eee PC with an 8Gb SSD drive
is on the way. This is according to a report at German website derStandard that
quotes an ASUS Germany spokesperson. Now if only ASUS would add Bluetooth, the
Eee PC would be perfect.
Better yet:
"Das Gehäuse bleibt dabei gleich groß wie beim 4G-Modell", meint der Asus-Sprecher, der Platz hierfür reiche problemlos aus.
or for the Germanically-challenged:
"The enclosure remains at the same size as the 4G model", according to the Asus spokesperson, as there is more than enough space.
There's no word on how the big-screen Eee PC will cost and while it'll almost certainly be more expensive than the £220 price of the current 7in model, it'll still be much cheaper than a similar size ultra-portable.

Having used the Asus eee 701, I doubt a larger screen will be fitted to the current model due to the shift in balance of weight - it would make the device top heavy and topple forward, in use. Thats the main reason for the larger size of the 1001. Asus will need to move the battery to the front of the machine, to counter the weight, (or have a much reduced weight in the new screen) which is a shame because it the design to embed the battery into the dead space of the hinge is pretty nifty. The device is a pretty good all rounder as it is, for what is does. 8GB rather than 4GB, larger screen - all have power trade-offs and you lose what you have, which is a sweet little 'BMW Mini' of the computer world.
I am a student and would like to see the same hardware spec driving a touch screen. Maybe in an even smaller case.It would be ideal for carrying powerpoints word files and ebooks. A keyboard could be connected by USB, but for something so small any major typing is not something anyone would want to do too much of. I guess a properly powered large format PDA is what I am asking for. An EEE with touch screen and no fixed keyboard would hit the spot.
